I felt really bad for little Alice. How dare the mean nun tell her that Jesus doesn't love her because she's left handed? I found that ludicrous but very believable at the same time because nuns are known for being very mean people so the one in the story didn't surprise me only made me upset that she can be so mean to a bunch of little kids! That's terrible! And the mother really shouldn't send her daughter to a horrible school like that because it will only make her be very afraid of authority figures.
Also to say that Jesus won't like a person for the hand they write better with is totally crazy. How is somebody supposed to feel when told something as horrible like that, especially a child? No wonder poor Alice was in tears. And then the next day, she didn't even want to come back...I feel bad for her and her mother should really think twice of her decisions and send her daughter to another school.
