  1. I actually liked this story a alot. I got into it really quick and as i was reading it i knew there was going to be a twist but i deffinitely was not expecting the mulatto boy to be the Sherriff's son! The only thing that i had toruble with was the dialog between the characters. There were a couple of times i had to read, then reread what they said just to understand. Other than that i enjoyed the story.

  2. This story kept me wanting more information. I was shocked that this man would actually protect a black prisoner in that error. He had a daughter to look out for and he risked his own life to protect a slave. I was intrigued when the prisoner stole the gun and turned the tables on him, how careless could he be? Then the most shocking part of the story to me was the prisoner was the sheriff’s son and he didn’t even try to protect him. He left him for dead in the cell. I realize he tried to wrap his wound but really, how could he live with himself knowing that was his flesh and blood in the cell and he had sold him to an awful family years earlier. What an awful person he was.
