  1. I found this story to be a little confusing. First of all, how could Sammy quit his job because of what Lengel told the girls? I mean, did he have something against Lengel? Or was Lengel just too tough on Sammy as a boss or as a teacher and he just couldn’t handle it anymore and wanted to rebel? Like what? And also, what did he expect to accomplish with quitting his job? It’s not like the girls knew him or anything? And even if they heard him rebelling against his boss, they don’t know him. They probably wouldn’t even care. It’s not like he stood up to Lengel in front of the girls; they clearly had left by the time he had taken off his apron.
I don’t understand the story too well. I guess all Sammy wanted was some attention based on his age. Either way, I think he made a big mistake by quitting.
Another thing I liked about this story is that I think the setting is Salem, Massachusetts which is right next to where I live. Sammy mentions the “Point” which is a part of Salem, and he also mentions that the beach is five miles away from town. I like the setting because I know a little bit of Salem and I’m happy to read stories that took place in my community. Other than this, I think this story is okay, I would read it again.
