I found the poem titled “We Real Cool” to be completely pointless. It seems like there are a lot of poems that get published which make no sense and have no meaning and in my opinion, this is not a poem. Obviously, Gwendolyn Brooks didn’t put any real effort into this piece and just wrote it for pleasure and hoped for the best and apparently it was enough and it made her famous but I don’t consider it to be a good contribution to American Literature, it’s very weak.
